I grieve for Palestine

Filed under: Middle East — menj @ 10:40 pm

I saw the news for about two hours on Al-Jazeera International this morning before I could not stomach it anymore and switched it off. The Lebanese army are waging their campaign in a Palestinian refugee camp against an obscure group called Fatah al-Islam in Tripoli and many Palestinian civillians are being killed in the process. Israeli fighters are launching their terror campaign in Gaza and more Palestinians were killed as well.

I grieve for Palestine, for a people who were not only ousted out of their homes, but uprooted from their homeland as well (in what is known today as “Israel”), by a racist and tyrannical regime which upholds a secular and ethno-centric ideology which can only be called “apartheid”. I grieve for Palestine, my brothers and sisters who are being butchered, murdered and killed at every opportunity.

I wish I could help with arms and not just words but I am not trained as a soldier. All I can do is to criticise and condemn the brutality and inhuman behaviour that is being launched against my Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Truly, I grieve for Palestine.
