Want to go for a test drive? Wordpress 2.0 beta 2
Originally the next version of Wordpress was supposed to be 1.6, but imagine my surprise when Matt, the developer, announced that the next version will be Wordpress 2.0 beta 1. I didn’t quite get around to installing this version though, as I was away for the weekend. Today, I found out that Wordpress has been upgraded to 2.0 beta 2. I promptly downloaded the files and it is now installed on my server for testing.
The features are nothing short of amazing. Hence I think it is appropriate (I hope) to give readers a sneak preview of the next-generation Wordpress. The test blog is here. Login to this page and input the following:
Username: admin
Password: masuk
Use and abuse as you will, as it will only be there for this week. I will delete everything next Monday. MT users, if this does not give you a reason to migrate to Wordpress, then I guess nothing will!
Update (25/11/05): I have dropped the SQL tables and reconfigured the blog with the same username/password again. It should be accessible now.
eh the login is not working?

Yeah. I tried to. By the way MENj, I don’t know if this is the right place, I ordered and paid for your book. And I haven’t receive the book yet. My email to the bookstore is being unanswered. How long do we wait usually? Is 2 weeks too soon?
Hmm…try contacting them at perniagaanjahabersa@yahoo.com.sg (that is, if you ordered right from Jahabersa.

somebody probably changed the password. MENJ, if you have direct access to mysql, change back the admin password from there.
i’ll probably use wp once: 1. they have tagging built-in instead of strict categorization (dozens of different plugins to do this does not count), and 2. easier template development.
The WP beta testers on the official e-mail list are debating about the merits of tags versus categories. As for Point 2, I think the current template system is already very flexible and mobile. Plus, with your PHP background you can take it to limits which even I cannot follow.
