Running away from IE

Filed under: Computers & Internet — menj @ 7:33 pm

Goodbye Internet Explorer, I’m dumping you for Mozilla Firefox 2. I grudgingly used the previous version of Firefox and never liked it due to its slow load and bulky built but I am now so impressed by this new version of Firefox that I am dumping IE for Firefox 2.

Heh. I surprise even myself sometimes.

Its finally over

Filed under: Loudspeakers — menj @ 7:36 pm

The second semester that is. I submitted my DWA-2 documentation to the counter in the foyer (turns out that the presentation that I was supposed to present was cancelled) and a huge relief fell over me. Finally I can now turn to blogging with a clear conscience again, with no spectre of the Exams looming over me.

And speaking of conscience, affairs of the heart dictate that I will be very soon ending my years of singlehood. Dah sampai seru. Maybe not next month, nor even the next year. But certainly it will be sooner than I had initially expected.

And only if God wills it.

The donkey in the White House uses “the Google”

Filed under: Computers & Internet, Politics & Government — menj @ 12:58 pm

So the Googler-in-Chief uses “the Google” to pull up maps of his ranch. Watch the video. Of course thats not “the Google” itself, thats Google Earth, the software.

Bring local elections back

Filed under: Politics & Government — menj @ 12:31 pm

Well, this sure is a glaring example of abuse of power by local governments. This happened because the local councillors are government-appointees: they only “answer” to the person who is in power, not to their constituents or the residents that they are responsible for. I recall reading an article in (ironically) the NST some few months back which calls for a return to local elections as it was before the 1955 elections.

The only way to stop such abuses of power is only if the person elected answers to the electorate who placed him (or her) in that position.
