Yeah, today is the 49th anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence day from the British. Happy Merdeka Day and all that. Although I am not sure whether this should be synonymous with “Malaysia Day”, since 31st August was only the day of the formation of the Federation of Malaya, minus Sabah, Sarawak and (back then) Singapore. It was only on 16th September 1963Yeah, 1963. Sorry, typo on my part. was when Malaysia as we know it today came in existence; Singapore was kicked out of the Federation two years later.
As a somewhat history buff, I do like to be particular about these matters, however small it may seem. I think we should not just celebrate 31st August as our National Day, but also 16th September as Malaysia Day, even though some may conveniently want to forget that. Eh?
Benarkah Kita Sudah Merdeka?
Dalam umur melangkah hampir setengah abad
kononnya masyarakat Islam Hadhari
aku masih dilanda persoalan:
benarkah kita sudah merdeka?
Dalam keracuan hiburan melampau
budaya songsang aksi Barat
arus sosial yang semakin hilang identiti
jatidiri yang semakin kalut
benarkah kita sudah merdeka?
Dalam menghadapi agenda anti-Islam
Kerakusan kumpulan Artikel 11
kemunafikan golongan Islam Liberal
melemahkan sistem Islam, mendaulatkan sekularisme
benarkah kita sudah merdeka?
Dalam menentang akidah songsang
kesesatan golongan misionaris
pemurtadan si perempuan Jawa itu
atas dasar songsang human rights, memartabatkan kekufuran
benarkah kita sudah merdeka?
Aduhai negaraku
tidak ghairah aku menyambut merdeka
selagi minda tidak dimerdekakan
dari Pluralisme, Liberalisme and Sekularisme!
(Selamat menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke-49
namun aku akan tetap menganggap
kita masih belum merdeka!)

What about God’s rights? Obviously one who promotes “human rights” is one whose actions amount to kufr (disbelief) and cannot seriously be regarded as a Muslim.
See, I am flying the Jalur Gemilang flag in honour of our upcoming “Merdeka Day” (see top-right corner). Although frankly I feel that there is nothing “gemilang” about Malaysia these days. We are beseiged by Islamophobes, Apostates and Islam Liberal heretics who are acting like ravening wolves and are attacking Islam from left, right and centre. Where is the “gemilang” in that? What kind of “merdeka” do we have if we cannot even stop apostasy from Islam in Malaysia Darul Islam?
And it looks like I’ve been tagged by Lilian. LOL. Thanks. I will do something about the meme tonight. I need to crank up my ilham machine which has been rusty for ages…I have not written a puisi/sajak or been published in any sastera publication ever since I won HSSBR in 2000.
(Ah, did I mention this before?)
This was a one-page advert that appeared in The Times London and the New York Times recently, in response to the Christo-fascist Dubya’s remarks about a so-called “war on Islamo-fascists”.
