What “New Year”?

Filed under: Loudspeakers — menj @ 3:39 pm

I think the Muslims should be ashamed of themselves for trying to celebrate a Christian New Year, which has no significance in Islamic tradition and the salaf (the early generations of the Muslim ummah).

In protestation of this ridiculous advocation for this so-called “new year” of 2006, instead of what is supposed to be 1 Muharram 1427H (which is only a few week’s away, point to note!), I will disable all reference to the Masihi calendar in my blog posts and will set them to only display the Hijri dates. I will reinstall the Masihi dates after 1 Muharram 1427H.

Looking forward to the TRUE new year with anticipation…..

Blog commenting policies

Filed under: Loudspeakers — menj @ 8:16 pm

Please keep in mind that this blog is not a democracy, but rather a personal forum for expressing views and opinions on topics of my choosing. Thus, as the benevolent dictator of the petty cyberfiefdom of MENJ’s Critical Thoughts, I reserve the right to delete any comments that are blasphemous, profane, slanderous to Islam, or contain anything else that I feel is inappropriate, completely lacking in merit or unduly sloppy.

Or maybe its because I just don’t like you. So be it.

Thus, by posting your comments here you agree to the above stipulated conditions and agree to never come here again should you be banned for misconduct as appropriated above. I do not like censorship, but I do not want to suffer fools either. This blog is about the celebration of intellect and critical discourse, hence such measures must be taken to preserve it.

Simply del.icio.us

Filed under: Loudspeakers — menj @ 3:12 pm

I’ve only been using del.icio.us for the past few days and I’m really hooked to it. I’ve moved all my bookmarks to del.icio.us and deleted the ones stored in my PC. You can see them here.

A Mawi gem

Wow, I love this. Thanks to anti-mawi for pointing it out.
